Our first week of the Winter Touch League, we were hosted by Ashington LionZ 🦁. The team is based at The Rec, home of Ashington JW RFC Ellington Ter, Ashington NE63 8TP. The club started as a women’s team during the pandemic, which grew into regular training, games, and socials. This sparked interest from the men in the club and the Ashington LionZ mixed team was officially created in March 2023. Coached by Stuart Armstrong and Callum Lowe, this Winter League the Ashington team hopes to take the trophy, but mostly want to continue learning and having fun!

We kicked off at 17:00 with three sets of games. It wasn’t long before the teams got into the rhythm of driving together and there were lots of dives in the mud.
