In2Touch Blackadders league  Week 5

Highlight:
It has been roughly a year since my first competitive touch experience at the in2touch spring league in 2023. So was nice to reflect on how much I’ve learned in that time.

Worst bit:
It was too cold for June! Especially given that we had beautiful weather for the 2023 edition, which is probably what made me stick around!

Position spotlight:

As a “mid” you play in the middle of the pitch. Being in the middle, you’re involved in a lot of the action in both attack and defence. In attack, a mid will be communicating with their mid partner about moving up the pitch in as few touches as possible. Once in a good position close to the try-line, mids are trying to create opportunities for the team to score from. When defending, mids again have to communicate with their partner to remain compact. This is to force the attacking team into throwing long passes to the wings in an attempt to score. Forcing these long passes means the attacking team are more likely to drop the ball resulting in a turnover. All this combined means that the main job of a mid is to run loads!
